An Announcement

To My Lovely and Loyal Readers,

The big day has finally arrived.  This morning, Mini Mimi was born.  Mr. Mimi and I could not be happier.

While I promise not to turn this into a blog which details my daily comings and goings (including fascinating stories about my cat....wait for it....napping!), I will follow this post up with a few more details.  These last few days have been an absolute roller coaster of emotions punctuated with a lot of frantic advanced blogging and pre-scheduled publishing.  HOWEVER, I did not get as much done as I would have liked to and, as a result, posting may be a bit spotty for the next few weeks as I get my you-know-what together.  I know you'll understand.  (Or I really hope you do.)

Throughout this pregnancy and, in fact, this crazy journey I have been on since starting this blog, you all have been incredibly supportive and encouraging and I can't thank you enough.  Your well wishes have meant the world to me and my family.  I can't promise I'll be exactly the same, but I can promise you that I will be back and still just as sassy (read: full of jokes about pee and ready to slap the douche label on anyone who DARES to speak ill of teachers).

So, for those of you who are already done with your school year...I hope you are soaking up the sun and fruity cocktails.  For those of you who are almost done - you can do it!!!  For all of you out there who rocked it in their classrooms this year - congratulations on another year under your belt.  It may not have felt like you were a rock star each and every day but I KNOW that you touched a lot of little minds and what can be better than that?

Virtual hugs and high fives all around, my friends.  I'll see you soon.  Sleep for me!!

xoxoxo,
Mimi

Congrats! Hope to see a pic of Mini Mimi, but I remember what the first month was like, so I know you'll get to it when/if you can.

Sleep whenever the baby sleeps - the dishes/laundry/etc. can wait!

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Mimi...you are starting a wonderful adventure. I'm so happy for all three of you.

As those of us who are parents already know...life will never be the same. Mini Mimi is lucky that his/her mom has the huge selection of awesome books.

Start reading aloud NOW!!!

Congratulations! I can't believe you're blogging after giving birth. Talk about a rock star! Boy? Girl? do we get any details? I hope you and the baby are doing well.

Today was my last day of school before summer vacation. Most of the books got turned in, I've done grades, and now look forward to reading, traveling, and relaxing!

Congratulations to all three of you!
Here's what I remember from those very hazy early days:
It's normal to cry every day as long as it's not *all* day.
Most days you will only be able to get one thing done around the house. It's ok if that one thing is "changed my clothes".
I found I only had enough time to shave one quadrant per shower, if that (e.g. left pit one time, right leg the next).
Remember college when you used to get by on four hours of sleep. They were all in a row then. Not so much now.

I was away at a educ. conference when this happened and just read it. Leesepea does a fabulous job at mixing the baby and the teaching in her blog. I look forward to your super fabulous way of doing things, too! Best wishes for you, Mr. Mimi and Baby Mimi.

Congratulations!!! It's sappy, I know, but parenthood really is amazing and wonderful. It will be interesting how your views on education evolve as a result (or if they do, who knows?) For now, just enjoy the little one.
